You explore different lakes like Lake Nakuru which is known for flamingos which have changed the view of the water to pink, Lake Naivasha known for over 470 species of birds, Lake Elementaita, Lake Baringo, Lake Bogoria and many more. Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in NairobiArrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Meet and greet by your birding guide. Transfer to hotel for check-in, briefing, and rest. Evening bird walk at Nairobi Arboretum if time allows.
Day 2: Nairobi National ParkMorning birding in Nairobi National Park. Expect sightings of Secretary Birds, Ostriches, Kori Bustards, and many raptors. Afternoon visit to Nairobi Safari Walk and Giraffe Centre for more birding opportunities.
Day 3: Nairobi to Lake NaivashaDrive to Lake Naivasha. Afternoon boat ride to see African Fish Eagles, Kingfishers, and Cormorants. Overnight near the lake.
Day 4: Hell’s Gate National ParkFull-day birding in Hell’s Gate. Look for Verreaux’s Eagles, Augur Buzzards, and Rock Martins. Visit Fischer’s Tower and gorge.
Day 5: Lake ElementaitaShort transfer to Lake Elementaita. Birding along the lake shores for Flamingos, Avocets, and Plovers. Evening birding walk in Soysambu Conservancy.
Day 6: Lake Nakuru National ParkFull-day birding in Lake Nakuru. Expect Lesser and Greater Flamingos, Pelicans, and White-backed Ducks. Also see White Rhinos and Rothschild Giraffes.
Day 7: Transfer to Lake BogoriaTravel north to Lake Bogoria. Afternoon birding around hot springs. Look for Hornbills, Lapwings, and Spotted Thick-knee.
Day 8: Lake BaringoEarly morning transfer to Lake Baringo. Birding by boat and land. Look for Hemprich's Hornbill, Goliath Heron, and Northern Masked Weaver.
Day 9: Lake Baringo ExplorationFull day birding around Baringo cliffs, riverine forests, and lakeshore. Spot Verreaux’s Eagle, White-faced Scops Owl, and Bristle-crowned Starling.
Day 10: Drive to Kakamega ForestTravel to Kakamega, Kenya's only tropical rainforest. Evening forest walk. Overnight near the forest.
Day 11-12: Kakamega Forest BirdingTwo days exploring this rich bird habitat. Look for Great Blue Turaco, Blue-headed Bee-eater, and Black-and-white Casqued Hornbill.
Day 13: Transfer to Kisumu – Lake VictoriaDrive to Kisumu on Lake Victoria. Afternoon birding along the wetlands. Look for Papyrus Gonolek, Swamp Flycatcher, and White-winged Warbler.
Day 14: Lake Victoria ExplorationBoat excursion on the lake. Spot African Openbill, Cattle Egret, and Giant Kingfisher. Visit Dunga Swamp.
Day 15: Travel to Maasai MaraDrive to the Maasai Mara. Evening birding around the camp. Look for Long-tailed Fiscals, Cisticolas, and Larks.
Day 16-17: Maasai Mara National ReserveTwo days of safari and birding. Over 470 bird species including Secretary Bird, Martial Eagle, and Lilac-breasted Roller.
Day 18: Transfer to NairobiDrive back to Nairobi. Rest and overnight in the city.
Day 19: Transfer to Amboseli National ParkTravel to Amboseli at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Evening birding. Look for Grey Crowned Crane, Pygmy Falcon, and Rufous-naped Lark.
Day 20-21: Amboseli National ParkTwo full days in Amboseli. Spot species in swamps, grasslands, and acacia woodlands. See Elephants and big cats too.
Day 22: Transfer to Tsavo West National ParkDrive to Tsavo West. Birding around Mzima Springs and Shetani Lava Flow. Spot Somali Ostrich and Fischer’s Starling.
Day 23: Tsavo East National ParkTransfer to Tsavo East. Spot Golden Pipit, Black-headed Lapwing, and African Hawk-Eagle.
Day 24: Taita Hills ExcursionBirding in Taita Hills Forest Reserve. Look for Taita Thrush, Taita Apalis, and Taita White-eye.
Day 25: Drive to Arabuko Sokoke ForestTransfer to the coast. Evening bird walk in Arabuko. Overnight in Watamu or Malindi.
Day 26: Arabuko Sokoke ForestFull-day birding in the forest. Spot Clarke’s Weaver, Sokoke Pipit, and Amani Sunbird.
Day 27: Mida Creek and Watamu Marine ParkExplore Mida Creek and coastal wetlands. Spot Crab Plovers, Greater Sand Plover, and Terek Sandpiper.
Day 28: Return to Nairobi / DepartureFly from Malindi or Mombasa to Nairobi. Connect to your international flight or overnight in Nairobi.
