Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha (1,400 m) – Rongai Gate (1,950 m) – 1st Caves Camp (2,600 m)

Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha/Moshi, followed by a 3-hour drive to Rongai Gate (1,950 m), the starting point of your trek. After completing registration at the Marangu Park Gate, you will transfer to the Rongai trailhead.

Trekking through dense rainforest, you’ll have a chance to spot Colobus monkeys and other wildlife.

Arrive at 1st Caves Camp (2,600 m) in the afternoon for hot refreshments, followed by dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: 1st Caves Camp (2,600 m) – Kikelelwa Cave (3,600 m)

After breakfast, begin your steady ascent through moorland vegetation toward Second Cave (3,450 m), where you’ll have a lunch break.

Continue hiking through alpine scenery, reaching Kikelelwa Cave (3,600 m).

The campsite is surrounded by small caves and scenic valleys, perfect for relaxation and acclimatization.

Day 3: Kikelelwa Cave (3,600 m) – Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330 m)
Start your day with a light breakfast, followed by an exciting climb up a steep ridge.

As you ascend, the landscape becomes rugged with panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s twin peaks.

Reach Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330 m), nestled beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi Peak.

Spend the afternoon resting and exploring the area, allowing for proper acclimatization.

Day 4: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330 m) – Kibo Hut (4,700 m)
Today’s hike takes you across the Saddle, a barren stretch between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.

The trail is gradual and steady, offering dramatic views of Kilimanjaro.

Arrive at Kibo Hut (4,700 m) in time for lunch and rest.

Early dinner and preparation for the summit attempt.

Day 5: Kibo Hut (4,700 m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Horombo Hut (3,720 m)
Wake up at midnight (23:30 – 00:00) for a hot drink and snacks before starting your summit attempt.

Trek through rocky terrain, passing William’s Point (5,000 m), Hans Meyer Cave (5,150 m), and Gillman’s Point (5,681 m).

Reach Stella Point (5,752 m), where the sun begins to rise, offering breathtaking views.
Continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa!

After celebrating at the summit, begin your descent back to Kibo Hut for a short rest and lunch.

Continue descending to Horombo Hut (3,720 m) for overnight stay.

Day 6: Horombo Hut (3,720 m) – Marangu Gate (1,980 m) – Arusha/Moshi
After breakfast, embark on the final descent to Marangu Gate (1,980 m).
Stop at Mandara Hut (2,700 m) for a short break.
Arrive at Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your climbing certificate:
Green Certificate for reaching Gillman’s Point.
Gold Certificate for reaching Uhuru Peak.
Transfer back to Arusha/Moshi or the airport.
