Tour Itinerary
Begin your day with a scenic ride to Watamu Marine National Park, one of Kenya’s most treasured marine sanctuaries. Renowned for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral gardens, the park is home to an extraordinary variety of marine life. It also serves as a protected nesting ground for three different species of sea turtles, making it a vital ecosystem for ocean conservation and a prime destination for marine lovers.
As you board the glass-bottom boat, you’ll glide across turquoise waters, allowing a clear view of the colorful coral reefs below. These reefs are teeming with marine life, including iconic species like parrotfish, whose constant coral nibbling over millennia has helped shape the pristine white sands of Watamu’s beaches. Watch as angelfish, lionfish, filefish, groupers, and snappers flit between coral formations. Keep an eye out for octopus and moray eels hiding among rocks, and if you're lucky, you may spot the elusive crocodile fish or barracudas lurking near the seabed.
Your tour continues southwards toward Turtle Bay and Blue Bay, affectionately known as “The Larder,” where coral ledges have formed natural underwater terraces. Here, the sea seems even more alive with butterflyfish, damselfish, juvenile angelfish, and vibrant shoals weaving through the reefs. Those inclined can dive or snorkel through the warm blue waters to explore hidden coral caves, and even swim among schools of colorful fish and, occasionally, curious turtles.
After a morning of marine exploration, your boat sails gently towards Sudi Island, a serene tropical escape nestled within the mangrove channels. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a sumptuous seafood lunch served fresh from the ocean—featuring crab, prawns, and fish (with chicken options available for non-seafood eaters). Enjoy your meal as you soak in the island's peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.
Following lunch, you can opt to take a guided canoe ride into the mangrove forest, where your guide will share fascinating insights about the island’s ecosystem, the rich biodiversity of the mangroves, and the small creatures that call it home. Alternatively, relax on the sandy shores of the island—swim, sunbathe, take photos, or simply embrace the serenity of this magical place.
As the day winds down, take a final stroll along the beach or capture your last moments amidst this paradise. At 4:30 p.m., you’ll board the boat once more for the return journey to the mainland. Your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel or designated drop-off point, just in time for dinner, bringing your unforgettable Watamu Marine Park & Sudi Island adventure to a close.
